To add growth to Hopewell’s current freight and last mile program, and to provide a high standard of service to customers while maximizing profits. With emphasis on Calgary and Vancouver opportunities, while gaining intelligence on higher level opportunities that fit with Hopewell’s overall growth strategy.
Cold call Calgary market to develop opportunities in line with overall growth strategy.
Develop an understanding of the market environment in which Hopewell plans to operate.
Gain knowledge of Hopewell’s value proposition and target the appropriate customer prospects.
Leverage existing contacts and business relationships to immediately provide opportunities for growth.
Assist in developing business plans to increase freight revenue and maximize profit.
Conduct market research to identify the prominent leaders in the chosen market environment and identify strategies that will win the customer’s freight business; create awareness of our services in the market.
Upgrade potential customers from suspect to prospect, and obtain agreement on action plans through direction from the General Manager, Alberta.
With the direction of the General Manager, Alberta - negotiate with each prospect within the financial and operational guidelines of the pricing/business plan, and work direct with new customers to quickly resolve any problems.
Assist Transportation business development team in developing the freight sales operating budget, ensuring that costs are kept in line with sales targets.
Regularly review the market to keep abreast of the industry, market trends and conditions, and to generate new prospects and/or uncover new threats.
Work in conjunction with Transportation Manager and General Manager to maintain and update an optimum pricing structure to achieve targets and increase revenues.
Implement customer service procedures to ensure highest levels of customer satisfaction.
Generate management and customer reports, as appropriate.
Qualifications and Skill Sets:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required. CITT or P. Log would be an asset.
Three(3) plus years freight office experience with broad understanding of cargo movement.
Minimum of three years(3) in selling domestic freight services; 3PL experience would be an asset.
Strong oral and written skills.
Strong MS Office suite knowledge.
Strong sales presentation and customer service skills.
Strong analytical, market research and problem-solving skills.
