Calgary, the cultural capital of Canada for 2012, is situated at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. ACAD, an integral part of Canada, Alberta and Calgary’s cultural community, offers four year bachelor’s programs and is developing our first graduate program. Reporting to the Intermediate Accountant, the Junior Accountant/Cashier position provides accurate and timely transactional, operational, and organizational support for financial operations, services, projects, and initiatives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: cashier duties; processing accounts receivable; GST remittance and reporting; general ledger entries; account reconciliations; and maintaining department files and records. In support of the College’s mission, mandate, vision, and goals, the incumbent acts as a resource to staff, management, and the general public in the provision of related finance responses. In addition, the incumbent will act as a temporary support/back up for the Accounts Payable Coordinator and Intermediate Accountant.
The successful candidate will have a post-secondary diploma/degree with 2nd or 3rd level in a recognized professional accounting program as well as a minimum of five (5) years of general office experience. An acceptable combination of education and experience will be considered.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated strong skills in the use and application of the MS Office Suite of products and in using financial software. Preference will be given to candidates with AccPac and Banner knowledge, general ledger experience, and accounts payable/accounts receivable experience. Excellent organizational, decision-making and professional communication skills are crucial for success in this position. The successful candidate must be able to work with a high degree of accuracy, maintain confidentiality, and act as a contributing team member in a client-focused and deadline-driven environment with periods of high volume.
As a member of the AUPE bargaining unit (Local 071/006), under classification 3, the starting range of pay is $38,390 to $41,118 annually depending upon skills, education, and experience.
This is a regular full-time position working 35 hours per week.
