ACAD, an integral part of Canada, Alberta and Calgary’s cultural community, offers four year bachelor’s programs and is developing our first graduate program. Under the direction of the Director of Financial Operations, the Intermediate Accountant assists in ensuring the integrity and completeness of accounting data. Duties include the inputting and importing of data, reconciliation of various general ledger accounts, management of the GST tax function of the College, management of the accounts receivable function for the college, miscellaneous journal entries, and supervision of reception/front cashier. This role maintains the finance component of scholarships and endowments accounts including the allocation of accrued interest and reporting as required. In addition, the incumbent will act as a backup for accounts payable, and cashier functions as required.
The successful candidate will have a post-secondary diploma/degree, 3rd to 4th level in a recognized professional accounting program and five (5) years of directly related experience. An acceptable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Superior skills in MS Office are required. Preference will be given to those with experience using ACCPAC general ledger, accounts payable subledger, accounts receivable subledger, and common services. Excellent organizational, decision-making and professional communication skills are crucial for success in this position. Must be able to work with a high degree of accuracy, have demonstrated attention to detail, maintain confidentiality, and act as a contributing team member in a client-focused and deadline driven environment.
As a member of the AUPE bargaining unit (Local 071/006) under classification 6 the starting range of pay is $50,022 to $53,599 annually dependent upon skills, education, and experience.
This is a regular full-time position working 35 hours per week.
