POSITION SUMMARY

The Alberta Association of Architects (AAA) is seeking a creative and enthusiastic individual to join a group of dynamic and forward-thinking professionals. As the successful candidate, you are self-motivated, detail oriented, an excellent communicator, and highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Marketing & Event Planning Assistant is responsible to support the AAA’s outreach initiatives including event planning, and to complete numerous regular administrative tasks that provide value to the membership. This is a mid-level, full time contract (maternity leave) position that will last approximately one year.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Marketing:

o Implementing existing style guide and developing new branding guidelines.
o Providing input into the copy and design for all AAA collateral materials including the Annual Report, Practice Bulletins, registration forms, sponsorship packages, membership recognition awards, e-Bulletins, e-Blasts, and outreach publications to the membership and general public.

  • Event planning:

o Providing support to all Association events; with particular focus on the AAA’s most prominent event, Banff Session 2014.
o Accepting registrations, processing payments, assisting with the online event set-up, maintaining spreadsheets, developing event collateral, and preparing invitations and name badges.

  • Database:

o Should have a clear understanding of database technology, and through training become proficient in entering and extracting information from it.
o Managing member profiles, external job postings, and the volunteer database.
o Updating the AAA website content regularly.

SKILL SETS (must have)

  • 2 years of event planning experience
  • 1 year of marketing and/or communications experience
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Strong computer skills with solid knowledge of Microsoft Office

CONSIDERED AN ASSET

  • Adobe Creative Suite experience
  • Some graphic design experience or experience liaising with graphic designers and printers
  • Some HTML knowledge
