Req Qualifying notes:
Someone coming from an environment where they were on call 24/7
A hybrid of business and technical skills
Strong knowledge of Equities experience – from a trading perspective
Resource will be sitting on the trading floor with the Traders
The trading floor is not a place where there can be a delay in providing an answer, so the selected candidate will need to have an extremely high sense of urgency and be someone that quickly understands the varying degrees of urgency for different matters/issues
When Traders will come to this resource looking for an answer, the resource will have to be quick off the mark, confident and be able to handle high pressure situations.
Someone that is passive and quiet, won’t fit into this environment
Excellent English communication skills are a must. Resource will need to communicate information quickly, therefore the people they are speaking to will need to understand them without having to ask for clarification. Communication must be very clear and concise.
Resource will be working with different groups of people (Traders, Developers, Infrastructure team, etc) so they will need to effectively communicate with all of them.
From an applications perspective, if there’s an issue, the selected candidate will need to understand the business and look at an application and determine why it’s not working. There is a small team that builds the applications, but the resource will need to understand how the trading system works, in terms of theory, detail, etc.
The top priority is to have someone that has a combination of strong business acumen and excellent communication skills. Technical skills are also important, but if they don’t have all of the technical skills, at the very least, it’s important that they have the business acumen and communication piece.
