CHIEF MINE GEOLOGIST
Adam Alexander & Associates has been retained by KGHM – International (Ajax) to assist them in the search for a Chief Mine Geologist. This challenging and rewarding career opportunity is a key member of the Ajax project team and will appeal to the professional that is knowledgeable and experienced in providing technical expertise, support and advise to a project.
Based in the Kamloops office and reporting to the General Manager, the primary mandate of the position will be to support and the development of the Geology Department and staff. In addition, the Chief Mine Geologist is responsible for ensuring all geology systems and procedures, following KGHM International best practices, are designed, implemented and maintained for the Ajax Project during the permitting, development phase and into commercial operation. Furthermore, the Chief Geologist will be responsible for the development of the geological model, estimation of mineral resources, development and execution of mine exploration programs and the evaluation of exploration results.
The challenging responsibilities of this position will appeal to the professional who possess a university degree in Geology, professional certification (APEGBC) or able to gain certification, and is supported by a minimum of 7-10 years experience in mine geology, including experience with ore control and resource modeling. Other key requirements include a proficiency with AutoCad, Datamine, MineSight, Mine 24-D or other mapping and geologic modeling programs, preparing budgets, team building, occupational health and safety, excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, an ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external contacts, an ability to work collaboratively as a team member, good problem solving skills and an attention to detail and accuracy.The ability to adapt, undertake multiple tasks and respond quickly to changing priorities is imperative.
