The first step to a career with Abercrombie & Fitch is with our Manager in Training (MIT) program, offered to career driven individuals with a Bachelor's Degree, and the degree is our only requirement, as we provide the training and do not require management experience. We promote only from within and promotions are based on the performance of the individual. Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister Co., and Gilly Hicks are expanding rapidly in several key focal locations across Europe, Asia, and Australia and South America next year, and there is no better time than now to join a strong, rapidly expanding brand and take part in the career paths and opportunities offered by this international company. After the MIT program is complete, the MIT automatically transfers into the Assistant Manager (AM) role, where the AM will be in charge of one of three departments: people, visual, or impact. Based on individual performance and business needs, the next step for an AM is the Store Manager (SM) role, leading a management team of ambitious individuals all possessing a Bachelor's Degree, and running the operations and business of a multi-million dollar location. Once a Store Manager, the individual may choose to continue in stores management, continuing on to be a District Manager, Regional Manager, and Director. The individual also has other options, from managing flagship and globally focal locations internationally in the country of their interest, or supporting the company at our Home Office through Brand Senses, Design, Employee Relations, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Loss Prevention, Merchandising, Planning and Allocation, Store Operations, and Training. Regardless of an individual's interests or degree, there is a career path at this international company for any career-oriented, hard working individual.
The Manager in Training program is a blended learning program focused on immersing the trainee in all aspects of managing a multi-million dollar business for Abercrombie & Fitch. Training takes place in any of our domestic or international store locations. Each week of the program focuses on a different aspect of running the business. Every week the trainee will learn about different principles of management, including store operations, recruiting, diversity, human resources, stockroom systems, visual merchandising and creating the best store experience. The trainee will interact daily with the Store Manager and at least weekly with the District Manager. As an integral part of training, the Store Manager and District Manager facilitate coaching as well as conduct weekly assessments and performance evaluations. This program is the first step for store executives, as we strongly advocate a philosophy of promotion from within. The Manager in Training must successfully complete the training program to be moved into an Assistant Manager role.
We hire nice, smart, talented people who are interested in building a career at Abercrombie & Fitch. We have a strong philosophy of promotion from within. All of our District Managers, Regional Managers, Directors – even the Senior Vice President of Stores – have gone through the Manager in Training program. With the growth of the company domestically and internationally, career opportunities have never been better.
