Reporting to the Regional Manager – Northern BC/Yukon, the Service Manager is responsible for directing the operation of the Service Centre and working with the Branch staff & Sales team to provide retrofitting/maintenance/servicing coordination for all units within the ATCO Structures and Logistics rental fleet according to standards as per company policy. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for repairs/inventories/service at all three satellite yards. The Service Manager recommends policy and administrative changes as required to maintain efficiency of service, production and good customer relations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the hourly personnel in support of the Service Centre in Prince George, including recruitment, manpower planning, training and development, coaching, and motivating the unionized hourly workforce.
  • Develop, mentor and lead the service crew as part of a positive branch team culture
  • Manage the Service Centres in accordance with established company guidelines, policies, methods and procedures, including the safety program
  • Prepare shop and field estimates, budgeting for servicing, retrofit and charge backs
  • Provid leadership and coordination regarding retrofitting, servicing of purchased and rentals units, to comply with client specifications and company policies
  • Prepare operating budgets and managing within the established budgets, minimizing costs wherever possible, and reporting on the operations of the Service Centre on a weekly basis
  • Manage the ordering of materials, parts and equipment for all yards, and managing the overall inventory level in order to satisfy operational needs, as well as approve purchase orders for shop materials purchased
  • Liaises with Fleet Admin and Sales team and adjusts work schedules according to changing customer priorities and transportation deadlines
  • Provide installation and dismantle bids
  • Schedule and dispatch all service work as well as installation and dismantle crews
  • Update yard lists and maps for all yards
  • Maintain a close liaison with the sub-contractors in all 3 satellite yards and manage the timing and costs of unit servicing
  • Manage field/shop client-paid repair sales
  • Recommend product and material change as necessary
  • Recommend policy and administrative changes as required to maintain efficiency of service, production and good customer relations
  • Maintain company facilities and equipment by developing control systems and procedures including the yard maintenance
  • Ensure the check-off lists and service order summaries are accurate and submitted on time
  • Check and approve time sheets for hourly personnel
  • Approve sub-contractor invoices
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Technical school graduation, trade journeyman certification
  • 5 -10 years of experience in Customer / Quality / and Team focused Service Dept preferably from a construction or home builder industry
  • Valid Class 5 drivers Licence
  • Experience in working with a unionized workforce
  • Ability to problem solve and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to operate with minimum supervision
  • Proven supervisory skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Works in a tactful, diplomatic and professional manner
  • Passionate, enthusiastic individual with a team attitude
