Position Description: Accounting Assistant

Reports to: Accounting Supervisor

Position Summary:
The accounting assistant provides support to the accounting team and in turn to the ASET membership, by recording and communicating with members on all matters related to membership dues and changes in membership. The accounting assistant also assists with all accounting related tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the accounting department with a variety of accounting and administrative tasks including:
- All aspects of Accounts Receivables including accepting and recording member dues, member updates, changes in status and providing web access.
- Accounting reconciliation and analysis as required.
- Prepare documentation and deposit all funds received by ASET.
- Assist with letters to members, and answering member queries.
- Assist with the Accounts Payable function.
- Assist with special projects as required.
- Provide backup for the receptionist.

Desired minimum knowledge, education and experience
Post Secondary diploma, and preferably working towards an accounting designation
A minimum of three years of work experience in accounting is essential
Experience with accounting software preferably Simply Accounting and iMIS
Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office products and of databases
Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Sound knowledge of office procedures and administrative support practices
Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
Ability to have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
