THE OPPORTUNITY

Altruck International Truck Centres is currently searching for a highly motivated Payroll Administrator/Accounts Receivable, at our Kitchener location, to join our growing business. This position is responsible for the administration of company’s payroll and time and attendance systems and for collection and allocation of payments and reconciliation of accounts.

Payroll Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Prepare and process bi-weekly full-cycle payroll for approximately 250 employees in a non-unionized environment with a combination of hourly and salary employees
  • Process transactions such as new hires, terminations, payroll changes, benefit deductions, garnishments, commissions, etc.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll issues for various operating locations
  • Prepare and submit payroll remittances and deductions on a timely basis
  • Prepare and maintain various payroll reports as requested (T4’s, ROE’s, etc.)
  • Prepare manual cheques and other banking requirements from time to time
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records
  • Maintain employee confidentiality
  • Respond to employee questions regarding payroll matters in a timely manner
  • Follow all relevant legislation, compliance requirements and current best practices

Accounts Receivable Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Calculate, prepare and issue documents related to accounts such as bills, invoices, inventory reports, account statements and other financial statements using computerized and manual systems
  • Code, total, batch, enter, verify and reconcile transactions such as accounts receivables, purchase orders, cheques, invoices, cheque requisitions, and bank statements in a ledger or computer system
  • Process accounts receivables cheques and resolve issues related to billing and invoices
  • Assist in monthly department reporting and various reporting of accounts receivables
  • Collect from past due customer accounts and research and resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Reconcile customer accounts and create customer statements
  • Respond to customer inquiries, maintain good customer relations and solve problems

Qualifications and skills:

  • Experience working with various payroll systems and time and attendance systems; ADP payroll system preferred
  • Experience in Accounts Receivable and Collections role
  • Knowledge of payroll and accounting practices and principles
  • Knowledge of employment laws relating to key areas of responsibility
  • Has Microsoft Office experience; Word and Excel
  • Can adapt to other software programs easily
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude and the ability to work with others
  • Ability to exhibit professionalism with a positive attitude under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good timekeeping and an ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Flexibility as busy periods may require longer working hours
  • Detail oriented
