We are looking for dynamic, organized and results-oriented individuals to join our purchasing team. We service customers in all sectors of activity including industrial, environmental, biotech, pharmaceutical, food and dairy, health care, educational and all levels of government. The purchasing manager will be responsible for placing purchase orders, tracking shipments, expediting orders and sourcing new products/chemicals to meet customer requirements. Furthermore, the purchasing manager will ensure efficient production planning and maximize the effectiveness, compliance, and day-to-day management of the strategic supply base.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Purchasing:

  • Place purchase orders with approved suppliers as per appropriate agreements within 24/48 hours of requisition creation date/time
  • Monitor order progress and expedite critical orders
  • Monitor and reject non-compliant requisitions
  • Source new products/chemicals on a required basis
  • Find alternate sources for discontinued items and items with delivery problems
  • Review receipt reports daily
  • Run replenishment reports, review and approve requisitions
  • Amend product listings when changes to product or specs occur
  • Monitor inbound freight and look for cost saving alternatives
  • Monitor exchange rates

Vendor Logistics:

  • Setup new vendors, review policies, discounts etc. and create vendor file
  • Maintain vendor files and update new vendor price contracts every year
  • Negotiate supply agreements and/or contracts with vendors, taking into account cost, quality, service and payment terms
  • Update prices and discounts from new vendor price lists
  • Monitor the service level for each vendor
  • Ensure compliance with ACP Procurement policies and procedures and other regulatory requirements in collaboration with support services
  • Mitigate risks with the vendors and put in place business continuity plans for critical cases

Inventory Control:

  • Maintain data integrity in purchasing database and manage system alerts (e.g., invoice, quantity, etc.)
  • Work in close collaboration with the Operations Department to ensure efficient production planning
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly purchasing reports to ensure efficient inventory control management
  • Coordinate and supervise inventory counts
  • Schedule and supervise cycle counts in selected areas
  • Investigate stock discrepancies
  • Make adjustments for discrepancies, n/c shipments, credits and returns
  • Maintain licensing for the purchasing and reselling of regulated products
  • Monitor dead stock, return or code future disposition
  • Monitor lead times
  • Maintain correct duty codes and duty rates for all items

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Two (2) to three (3) years of demonstrated purchasing experience inventory control, customs requirements, and inventory database maintenance
  • University degree in a science field and/or Operation Management a strong asset
  • Excellent Bilingual communication skills, written and spoken
  • Good command of MS Office
  • Advanced time management and organization abilities
  • Contract negotiation experience and supplier sourcing skills major assets
  • Project Management Experience a major asset
