This position supports the advocacy and communications area of the AAMDC, along with other divisions. You will work closely with staff, members, the media and all levels of government to forward the association’s goals.
Duties: Drafting news releases, e-newsletters, bulletins and speaking notes, as well as design and manage production of reports and other printed materials. You will manage and maintain the content of the website, as well as access to it, and will also be part of a team planning/hosting conventions and other special events.
Qualifications: Post-secondary education in communications, journalism, public relations, government relations or a related discipline is preferred, supplemented by a minimum of 2-3 years communications experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus experience in industry standard office computer programs, website content management systems, experience working with the Adobe Suite (InDesign) and some understanding of the political/organizational functions of governments, will make you an ideal candidate. Some knowledge and appreciation of rural issues would be an asset.
