I really enjoy working with the people.
Cook (Current Employee), Tisdale, SKDecember 9, 2013
Cons: short hours
I really like the people I work with and I do love the job but the hours are not the greatest. They are always sending people home early so even if your schedule says you have 40 hours in the week usually by the end of the week you have between 20 and 35 hours.

Uncomfortable and unprofessional work environment
Cashier/Cook (Former Employee), Chrysler Dr. BramptonOctober 21, 2013
Pros: n/a
Cons: lots of pressure
Starting at A&W, I was instantly responsible for learning the positions of both cashier and fry cook within the span of a week. I learned how to properly handle food safely, as well as multi-tasking by setting timers and cleaning at the same time as preparing food. A&W included some judgmental and unpleasant employees and management. I was uncomfortable – more... of them speaking in their language in the workplace. I felt most of the employees were unprofessional so I was unfortunately persuaded to leave the job. – less

Cashier (Former Employee), Calgary, ABOctober 11, 2013
Pros: uniform
Cons: had to pay for food
It was always dead, except mornings for breakfast, I learned how to do cashier and cook at the back, co-workers were quiet not talkative, hardest part of the job is getting to know my co-workers, most enjoyable part of the job was when i knew how to do this around A&W

Productive workplace with great coworkers
Kitchen Staff (Former Employee), Comber, ONSeptember 27, 2013
Pros: 40% discount on food
Cons: worked almost every weekend
Typical day would be show up for my closing shift which would usually be 5 o'clock start to 11 pm finish time. During this time dinner rush would be between 530 and 8. Afterwards or during i would clean up machinery used during the day and shut down anything that did not need to be used. Management always listened to your needs and wants and worked – more... hard to achieving those goals. My co-workers were fun and very easy to get along with. Hardest part was days when there were only 2 of us working and we would get a large rush due to a power outage or travelling family's and workers or large community events. The most enjoyable part was my co-workers because we connected well and made each other laugh and smile. – less

It is job that can balance work and family.
Cashier (Former Employee), Maple Ridge, BCSeptember 18, 2013
Pros: free meal, paid breaks
Cons: working all night.
I work graveyard shifts here and I work the drive thru till from 10 pm until 6 am. I am also responsible for cleaning the dining room and washrooms during the night.
I have learned how to be more patient and kind with people.
My co workers are mostly young people and they have alot of energy and are fun to work with.
The hardest part of this job is – more... working all evening. Also during these hours there are alot of people that have been drinking and I have had to learn how to be patient .
I enjoy meeting new people and seeing the customers return. – less

Food Counter Attendant (Former Employee), Peace River, ABAugust 5, 2013
Pros: benefits, free drinks, discount on food items, flexible work hours, friendly staff, easy work
Cons: can get hard if you can't keep up, no free lunch, standing for long periods of time
On a typical day of work, its slow all day except for lunch and supper rush. If it is slow, you find something else to do, such as washing dishes or restocking the kitchen. I learned how to fry burgers, prepare buns, restock the kitchen, run the deep fryer, how to clean the grill and fryers. The management is comprised of 2 individuals, both female – more... and they do a excellent job of running the establishment. The co-workers are friendly, easy going, and disciplined right. It wasn't hard making friends where i worked. There isn't really a challenging task associated with the work, but when it gets really busy, i sometimes get lost in the orders. Overall i really enjoyed my time there, and working in the kitchen taught me skills that ill need for future restaurants. I love cooking the food, preparing the burger, and most of all working with other smiling faces. – less

small staff very good boss
Grill Cook (Former Employee), Beaumont, ABAugust 3, 2013
typically in a days work i would get too work with just about everyone on staff as well as the boss everyone was aware of there general tasks before arriving to work so no confusion on who is doing what. while working there i learned how to make onion rings and cook eggs. the hardest part of the job was being on my feet in front of a grill for long – more... hours on occasion. the most enjoyable part was having a small staff and being able to get to know everyone – less
