Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) invites immediate expressions of interest for the position of Chief of Party. The position is based in Islamabad, Pakistan starting in January 2013 and ending in June 2014. The USAID funded project focuses on increasing the incomes of predominately female micro and small entrepreneurs. MEDA is a membership association which brings hope, opportunity and economic well being to low-income people around the world, through a business-oriented approach to development.
The COP leads and manages the USAID-funded Entrepreneurs Project, and is accountable for project deliverables and results. He/she is responsible for developing, executing, and monitoring the project. Main responsibilities include timely reporting; monitoring the delivery of optimal outcomes; maintaining and fostering the relationship with the donor's field offices; capacity development of project managers; program design; maintenance of existing client and partner relationships on behalf of MEDA; and ensuring the integration of MEDA values, principles and ethos are incorporated into all aspects of the project. This position reports directly to the Pakistan Project Manager in North America.
At least ten years of international management experience with USAID programs, and five years of experience designing, managing, and implementing programs related to gender and development.
Working experience with USAID regulations and administrative procedures in the implementation of donor-funded projects.
Advanced degree in business administration, marketing, community development, or international development.
Creative, entrepreneurial and resourceful approach to developing and marketing small businesses with an understanding of sustainable private sector and value chain methodologies.
Proven and adaptable interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills. Ability to professionally and effectively communicate with individuals at various levels.
Fluency in English is required. Facility with Urdu is a strong advantage.
