POSITION OVERVIEW

WDN is seeking a talented and motivated Water Treatment Operator - Level 1 (WPO) to join our dynamic team. This role offers an opportunity to support the Public Works Department for the safe distribution and treatment of water for the Community of Whitecap, SK

KEY DUTIES

The following duties are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. The employee may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties. In accordance with standards of WDN and reporting to the WDN Director of Public Works the WTO will:

· Maintain education requirements to uphold Level I certification.

· Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

· Hold, at minimum, valid Saskatchewan certifications in Water Treatment, Water Collection, Wastewater Treatment, and Wastewater Collection (Level II preferred; professional development to this level is encouraged and supported).

· Support training and education for the Water Treatment Operator-in-Training program by providing guidance and best practices.

· Collaborate with other WTPOs on scheduled maintenance of infrastructure and facilities.

· Conduct routine inspections and testing as required by regulations and operational standards; maintain accurate daily, weekly, monthly, and annual records.

· Ensure water treatment and wastewater operations meet or exceed regulatory and legal standards.

· Respond to alarm calls and perform minor repairs on plant systems and mechanical distribution lines.

· Manage supplies for each facility.

· Maintain water treatment building and facilities, including lawn care, snow removal, garbage disposal, and floor upkeep.

· Move chemicals, equipment, and materials as required.

· Test hydrants, valves, and systems as required.

· Provide support to contractors and assist with logistical testing of equipment, including outdoor activities in varying weather conditions.

· Adhere to all safety regulations and complete required Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) training.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Pay: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Whitecap, SK: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Education:

  • Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

  • Water treatment: 2 years (preferred)

Language:

  • English (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Level 1 certification (required)
