Full job description

Sandhill is looking for an organized, adaptable individual to fill the position of Scale Operator/Cleaner for night shift at our Sandhill Mine in Kitimat, BC. The Scale Operator/Cleaner is required to have a valid driver’s license, beginner level knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, and completion of secondary school. The chosen candidate is expected to be detail oriented and have strong multi-tasking skills. This role reports directly to the Project Manager, indirectly to Site Superintendents.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Beginner level knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Valid driver’s license (7N minimum)
  • Continuous process improvement attitude
  • Organized, adaptable and detail oriented with strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Capable of handling a large workload

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Scale Operation – Answer customer inquiries, quote prices, and assist customers in viewing product, guesstimating amounts, and obtaining delivery services, if required. Issue scale tickets (invoices) to loads weighed at scale upon departure. Handle cash and credit card transactions. Create and send transaction reports to Accounts Payable. Maintain cleanliness and appearance of the scale office.

2. General Cleaning – Sweep, mop, wash floors; dust furniture and vacuum carpeting. Clean and disinfect kitchen and bathroom fixtures and appliances. Clean and disinfect public areas such as crew trailer, handwash areas, site kitchens. Wash windows, walls, and ceilings. Pick up debris, empty trash containers, and appropriately handle recycling.

3. Standard Corporate Responsibilities – Maintain the stability and reputation of the organization by complying with legal requirements. Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish the job results. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Be conversant with relevant sections of the Safety Manual. Understand WorkSafeBC acts and regulations, as well as the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in BC.

Sandhill offers a competitive benefits package, fair compensation, and RRSP matching following a customary probation period. This position is full-time, starting as soon as possible. Schedule is 10 hours per day with the possibility for night shifts and weekends. Schedule is subject to change based on project needs.
