Full job description

Saltworks Technologies is a leading Canadian cleantech company solving two of the world's most pressing industrial challenges: water sustainability and critical minerals supply. We design and build advanced industrial water treatment and lithium refining systems for some of the world's most recognized companies – in semiconductors, mining, automotive, and more. Saltworks is a 2025 Fast 50 Company and EY Entrepreneur of the Year award winner.

The role:

We are seeking a motivated Project Coordinator to join our growing team at Saltworks. This role is ideal for an early- to mid-career engineer with some hands-on experience who is looking to build a foundation in project management and construction coordination.

You will take ownership of coordination, documentation, and construction support activities, with mentorship from experienced Project Engineers and Project Managers as you grow.

Project Coordinators at Saltworks follow a defined career path toward Project Management, gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle—from design through construction and commissioning. You will support the delivery of innovative industrial desalination and resource recovery solutions that make a meaningful impact.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain project documentation, including meeting minutes, RFIs, submittals, and change logs.
  • Collaborate with Chemical, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineers to develop construction work packages.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to specify and source equipment (e.g., pumps, valves, motors, filters).
  • Work with Supply Chain, Production, and Quality teams to support on-time, on-budget, high-quality delivery.
  • Participate in project and construction meetings, track action items, and communicate updates.
  • Assist with commissioning activities at our factory and occasionally at customer sites.
  • Support field coordination during construction and commissioning, including occasional travel to the USA.
  • Apply project controls and internal processes (cost, scope, schedule) while developing project management capability.

You will be a great fit if you have:

  • A relevant engineering degree and EIT designation (or eligibility).
  • 0–3+ years of experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or construction environment.
  • Experience supporting project coordination, documentation, or engineering deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exposure to construction or process/industrial facilities is a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment or standards (e.g., ASME, B31.1, piping, heat exchangers, pumps) is an asset.
  • An interest in developing a career in project management, including construction coordination and field work.

Core skills and attributes:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to manage priorities and maintain quality while learning new skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving in dynamic environments.
  • Interest in hands-on work and troubleshooting (practical/tooling experience is an asset).
  • Bonus: exposure to project scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera), SolidWorks, or AutoCAD P&ID.

Why join Saltworks?

At Saltworks, you'll collaborate with talented colleagues to solve complex, real-world problems – designing and delivering innovative water treatment and lithium refining systems for some of the world's most recognized companies. Every team member contributes meaningfully, from early-stage development through field deployment.

Saltworks is investing intentionally in artificial intelligence for engineering and technical work. Engineering offers one of the longest runways for AI-driven productivity and automation, and Saltworks aims to be at the forefront of this shift. We provide the training, computational capacity, and practical tools needed for engineers and technical professionals to apply AI meaningfully in their work.

We offer:

  • Competitive compensation package, including medical, dental, vision, RRSP matching, life insurance, AD&D coverage, and an education allowance.
  • Culture built on safety, innovation, diversity, and continuous learning.
  • Collaborative, cross-functional team environment where every member contributes to project outcomes.
  • Regular social activities and company events.

How to apply:

If you would like to join the Saltworks team, please submit your resume (cover letters are not required).

While we sincerely appreciate all applications, only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. All applications are considered confidential.

Kindly, no recruiters.

Salary: Negotiable based on your experience, qualifications, and alignment with comparable roles internally.
