Saltworks Technologies (Richmond, BC) is a global technology leader in advanced industrial desalination and lithium refining. Our innovative machines produce clean water from high-strength industrial discharges and refine lithium to support the energy transition. We offer meaningful and exciting work in a collaborative environment, driven by innovation and problem-solving. We’re a fast growing company offering exceptional career opportunities, driven by major global trends.
The role:
If you have an Engineering degree or diploma and are interested in delivering systems/projects to completion, the Commissioning Engineer/Technologist role at Saltworks might be for you.
As a Commissioning Engineer/Technologist, you will play a pivotal role in the successful implementation of our systems by:
- Working closely with the Project Management Office (PMO) and other Engineering teams to support the entire commissioning project lifecycle. Including:
- Developing and implementing efficient and standardized procedures for factory and site commissioning, while enhancing our cutting-edge industrial desalination and resource recovery plants.
- Engaging in detailed commissioning planning.
- Testing and commissioning innovative clean technology solutions.
- Representing Saltworks at customer job sites to deliver high-quality system/plant commissioning and ensuring a seamless handover to customers (regular international travel will be required).
- Bringing forward design feedback, driving continuous improvement and innovation within our engineering teams.
- Opportunities to become a subject matter expert, enabling you to keep and expand technical skills while also developing project management skills (with full management support).
On average, your work will be 50% at customer sites and 50% at our headquarters. Field shifts generally require 2-3 weeks at site, followed by a similar time at headquarters. Further afield locations may require longer periods at site.
At Saltworks, we believe in fostering a learning environment. As such, you will gain industrial system testing and commissioning skills while being trained and mentored by project managers and senior leaders.
You will be a great fit if you have:
- No travel constraints: You must have a valid passport and be able to travel to customer sites internationally.
- A relevant Engineering degree or diploma in any of the following disciplines: Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Controls, or Integrated.
- 1-2 years of relevant post-graduation working experience as an Engineer/Technologist in an industrial setting.
- Familiarity with industrial safety standards pertaining to mechanically and electrically energized systems.
- A proven track record of delivering high-quality commissioning work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Proficiency and hands-on experience in hydrostatic testing, mechanical and electrical commissioning, process control commissioning, and field commissioning.
- Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders to ensure commissioning processes are safe.
- Exceptional critical thinking skills, adept in risk management, and an excellent troubleshooting mindset.
This position also requires these universal skill sets:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well within a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and maintain a high quality of work and quickly learn new skills.
- Strong commitment to delivering high-quality work, while meeting deadlines.
- Positive attitude, can-do approach, and willingness to roll up your sleeves.
- Hands-on tooling and troubleshooting skills (not essential, yet beneficial).
Why join Saltworks?
We have an outstanding team that is passionate about innovation and solving key environmental challenges facing our planet.
Join a team pioneering the future of water. Some of our customers include world-leading electric vehicle makers, semiconductor firms, mining companies, agriculture firms, and more!
We offer:
- A culture that supports safety, innovation, learning, diversity, and teamwork.
- A competitive compensation package that includes medical, dental, vision, RRSP matching, life insurance, AD&D coverage, and education allowance
- Fun social activities and company events.
