The Junior Mechanical Engineer applies scientific principles to innovate, design, develop and implement technologies, components, sub-systems, machines, tools and systems to ensure compliance to specifications and requirements. Responsible for the execution of design & development tasks, product line sustainment/improvement efforts and manufacturing engineering activities. This is an individual contributor role reporting to hardware engineering leadership.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in product development activities including cost estimates, implementation of specifications and development of requirements.
  • Execute tests for systems, sub-systems and components as part of engineering assessments, feasibility studies and root cause analysis.
  • Generate new design drawings and implement drawing updates for components, assemblies and products as needed.
  • Work toward commonality and optimization of product and components to reduce design error and escapes.
  • Will generate technical documents including requirements capture, design and test documentation.
  • May support activities related to engineering services associated with conformance, safety, shock/vibration and environmental standards in development programs.
  • May support manufacturing engineering and operations related activities during peak periods to ensure team success.
  • May be responsible for supporting configuration management and change order management.


Qualifications/ Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and less than 2 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
  • Background in mechanical engineering is required.
  • Experience with CAD software is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Solidworks is preferred.
  • Experience with ENOVIA is preferred.
  • Knowledge of military communications is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Excel, Word and SAP.
