- Officer- Prisoner Escort- Permanent Part-Time (Days/evenings/weekends)
- Officer- Detainee Processing Unit - Permanent Full-Time (Shift work)
Location: Region Peel (Brampton, Mississauga)
Anticipated hire date: October 2026
1. Divisional Special Constable
As a Divisional Special Constable within our Division Platoons, you will be responsible for responding to lower priority, non-investigative calls for service, conducting follow-ups/video retrieval as well as assisting in witness canvassing, statement taking and missing person searches, crime scene protection and custody and transportation of prisoners including persons in custody awaiting treatment at a medical facility when operationally required.
What will your typical day look like?
-
Responds to lower priority calls for service, including found property/drugs, stale break and enters, animal complaints, By-Law complaints, recovered vehicles/counterfeit currency, juvenile complaints, parking, and property damage calls and generates occurrence reports.
-
Assists uniform officers in canvassing for witnesses, taking statements and information, blocking off roadways, conducting follow-ups, video retrieval and transporting vehicles to the garage for service.
-
Transports prisoners to detention facilities (i.e. parole warrants), immigration facilities, medical facilities, hospitals, doctor's offices, police divisions, court houses, arrest locations or other detention locations.
-
Transports witnesses from crime scenes to and from divisions for interviews.
-
Relieves uniform officers from Mental Health Act apprehensions at hospitals.
-
Attends non-emergent active scenes and assists uniform officers with guarding crime scenes, taking of witness statements and assisting with transportation requirements.
-
Maintains notebook containing an accurate and thorough account of up-to-date activities.
-
Attends court and testifies as required.
-
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Salary: The salary range for this permanent, full-time position is $71,235.00 per annum and is complemented by a comprehensive benefit program, including employer-paid Health/Dental and Life Insurance; and the OMERS Pension Plan effective upon hire.
2. Officer- Prisoner Escort
As an Officer-Prisoner Escort, within our Courts Services Bureau, you will be responsible for transporting and escorting prisoners, with accountability for the safety and security of persons in their charge and when required responsible for fingerprinting and photographing any person in lawful custody, charged with, or under conviction of an indictable offence in compliance with the Identification of Criminals Act.
What will your typical day look like?
-
Escorts prisoners to and from Ontario Court of Justice and Superior Court of Justice courtrooms, providing security and control at all times; transports prisoners to and from holding institutions and PRP holding cell facilities.

Performs searches of prisoners brought into the cell area and seizes hazardous items, as required.
-
Applies security restraints on prisoners being transported to and from detention facilities or courtrooms.
-
Screens the public entering the Courthouse for weapons or contraband using magnetometers and hand-held scanning equipment.
-
Answers telephone inquiries from Court Services personnel, Court Clerks, Judiciary members, divisional officers, other police or law enforcement agencies, Ministry of Community Safety & Correctional Services, and Ministry of the Attorney General (MAG) personnel.
-
Performs office administrative duties as required (e.g. Late Desk, Lawyer’s Desk, Bail Desk), and Security Control tasks.
-
Maintains accurate records of prisoner location, court disposition on the Prisoner Management Application (PMA), and officer memo notebook at all times.
-
Ensures the secure storage of prisoners’ property, valuables, and cash.
-
Inspects vehicles, cuffs, cells, and defensive weapons to ensure the safety and reliability of equipment.
-
Fingerprints charged persons in accordance with the Identification of Criminals Act.
-
Photographs charged persons in accordance with the Identifications of Criminals Act, as well as consenting persons, which may include identifying marks and tattoos.
-
Assists with DNA orders/executes warrants.
-
Inputs, updates and maintains accurate personal information of arrested persons on the Mugshot Retrieval System and ensures accurate information is provided to the RCMP on the C-216 fingerprint form.
-
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Salary: The wage for this regular, part-time position is $34.25 per hour and is complemented by a highly competitive compensation package; a comprehensive benefit program, including employer-paid Health/Dental and Life Insurance is offered semi-annually and OMERS Pension Plan effective upon date of hire.
3. Officer- Detainee Processing Unit
As an Officer - Detainee Processing Unit, within our Court Services Bureau, you will be responsible for the intake, processing, documentation, care, and security of all detainees in the custody of the Peel Regional Police and for transporting and escorting detainees to Correctional facilities or hospitals as required. You are also responsible for fingerprinting and photographing detainees in accordance with the Identification of Criminals Act along with the collecting of DNA samples in accordance with the provisions of judicial orders.
What will your typical day look like?
-
Process and search detainees while providing care, security and control; monitors detainee health and wellbeing at all times; dispenses prescribed medication and provides blankets and meals as required.

Seizes hazardous and prohibited contraband found in possession of detainees and processes such in accordance with policy/directives; ensures the secure storage of detainee property, valuables, and currency.

Conducts regular visual inspections of secure areas and cells.
-
Provides access control to all doors and cells within the secure area.
-
Regularly inspects vehicles, cuffs, cells, and defensive gear to ensure the safety and reliability of all equipment.
-
Transports detainees to Correctional facilities or hospitals as required maintaining security and control at all times.
-
Applies security restraints to detainees for all transports and escorts.
-
Facilitates remote audio and video court appearances and telephone access for contact with Legal Counsel or potential sureties.
-
Fingerprints and photographs charged detainees in accordance with the Identification of Criminals Act.
-
Executes DNA warrants and collects DNA samples in accordance with procedures/directives.
-
Maintains accurate records of detainee location and wellbeing checks on the Detainee Management Application (DMA).
-
Maintains daily notebook with a thorough account of daily activities.
-
Performs administrative duties as required and answers telephone inquiries from stakeholders.

Performs additional duties as assigned.
Salary: The salary range for this permanent, full-time position is $71,235.00 per annum and is complemented by a comprehensive benefit program, including employer-paid Health/Dental and Life Insurance; and the OMERS Pension Plan effective upon hire.
Qualifications for all positions:

A High School Diploma or equivalent, plus additional police science courses and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

A minimum of one year related experience required (i.e. By-law, public safety positions, security, corrections, etc.)
