Job Duties
  • The position will be instructing material in library and information technology. These may include children’s materials, records management, library programming, borrower services, and archives.
  • Manage face-to-face, blended, and online courses to ensure an optimum learning environment for learners.
  • Prepare and use appropriate delivery methods for instructing courses as assigned.
  • Make necessary curriculum adjustments to course content.
  • Use appropriate methods of evaluating and recording student progress.
  • Supervision, participation and/or evaluation of students in a practicum setting.
  • Development of curriculum and course materials in accordance with leading industry standards.
  • Administration duties including but not limited to meetings, student counseling, program inventories, etc.
  • Be reflective of and responsive to accommodation of individual learning needs, including equity groups and diverse learners.
  • Where required, develop working relationships with appropriate external partners and employers, supporting students in working experience.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities to keep current with employer and educational requirements.
  • Work co-operatively in an interdependent team environment.
  • Follow the policies and procedures adopted by Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
  • Attend program and school meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
  • A Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies (MLIS) from an ALA accredited institution or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years recent/relevant work experience (2 years in the last 5 years) in library environment in the specialty area to be taught.
  • Experience cataloguing materials using a variety of classification systems and descriptive cataloguing standards.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Effective instructional ability.
  • Demonstrates valuing diversity
