Job Summary

This position is responsible for supporting intelligent mining systems and providing comprehensive on-site IT infrastructure and communications support for mine operations.

The role combines mining digital systems coordination with IT service delivery, including automation systems, industrial sensors, servers, networks, ERP systems, Starlink satellite internet, and CCTV/security systems. The incumbent ensures stable, secure, and efficient digital operations in a remote and safety-critical mining environment.

This position plays a key role in maintaining system reliability, improving operational efficiency, and supporting technology-driven mining processes.

Accountability

The position is directly accountable to the Deputy General Manager and is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of mining digital systems and IT infrastructure across the site.

Key Responsibilities

1. Intelligent Mining Systems Management

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain intelligent mining systems, including automation equipment, industrial sensors, and digital platforms
  • Collect, analyze, and report operational data to support performance optimization and decision-making
  • Support integration and maintenance of mining-related digital systems, software, and hardware
  • Identify and propose innovative technology solutions to improve safety, efficiency, and productivity
  • Ensure compliance with mining safety, environmental, and operational standards

2. IT Infrastructure Management

  • Maintain, monitor, and optimize IT systems supporting mining operations, including servers, networks, ERP systems, and digital platforms
  • Ensure high system availability, cybersecurity, and minimal downtime across all IT environments
  • Support stability and performance of business-critical applications and infrastructure
  • Implement system improvements to enhance reliability and operational efficiency

3. IT Service Delivery

  • Provide on-site IT support for mine site and office users
  • Manage and resolve IT incidents and service requests in a timely manner
  • Enforce IT policies, procedures, and security standards
  • Ensure continuous IT support for uninterrupted mining operations

4. IT User Support

  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and peripheral devices
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and operating system issues
  • Manage user accounts, access rights, and permissions
  • Support Microsoft 365, email systems, and collaboration tools

5. Network & Connectivity

  • Install, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN and Wi-Fi networks
  • Set up and support Starlink satellite internet systems, including installation, alignment, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Monitor network performance and resolve connectivity issues
  • Support structured cabling, switches, routers, and wireless access points

6. CCTV & Security Systems

  • Install, configure, and maintain CCTV and IP camera systems across mine site facilities
  • Configure NVRs/DVRs, storage systems, and remote monitoring access
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure proper functionality and positioning
  • Troubleshoot camera, power, and network-related issues

7. IT Service Delivery & Project Management

  • Participate in IT infrastructure upgrades, system implementations, and technology improvement projects
  • Collaborate with IT teams in Canada and China to deliver project outcomes effectively
  • Support planning, coordination, testing, and deployment of IT systems
  • Contribute to post-implementation support and documentation

8. Systems Maintenance & Documentation

  • Perform regular system maintenance, updates, and backups
  • Maintain accurate documentation including network diagrams, system layouts, and IT asset records
  • Log and track incidents, service requests, and resolutions in IT systems

9. Safety & Compliance

  • Work in compliance with mine site safety procedures and regulations
  • Follow WHS/OHS and environmental policies at all times
  • Participate in safety inductions, meetings, and training sessions
  • Ensure safe execution of IT and field-based technical work

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mining Engineering, Networking, or a related field

Experience

  • Experience in IT support, mining automation systems, or industrial digital environments preferred
  • Experience with CCTV/IP camera systems installation and maintenance preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills
  • Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, and system administration
  • Familiarity with mining automation systems, industrial sensors, and digital platforms
  • Solid Knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 environment
  • Ability to work in remote and physically demanding environments
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills across cross-functional teams
  • Ability to manage multiple technical tasks and priorities effectively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mandarin-speaking ability is an asset
  • IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft certifications, etc.)
  • Mining industry experience
  • Cabling, networking, or security system certifications
  • Valid driver’s license

Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
