Psychology Technician

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Psychology Technician to join our mental health team. The Psychology Technician will work under the delegated authority and supervision of a licensed psychologist to provide essential support in psychological assessments, including pre-employment and clinical assessments. This role involves hands-on experience in administering and scoring psychological measures, conducting preliminary interviews with clients, and maintaining accurate records to support the efficient and effective assessment of clients on their rehab journey.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Psychological Assessment & Test Preparation

  • Administer a variety of psychological assessments under the supervision and guidance of licensed psychologists.
  • File reviews, including providing summary of relevant health antecedents for the supervising psychologist.
  • Ensure proper protocols and ethical standards are followed during assessments.
  • Prepare assessment materials, maintain testing equipment, and ensure all resources are in good condition and readily available.

Scoring & Data Management

  • Collect and organize patient data, assessment results, and relevant background information.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of patient interactions, progress, and treatment plans.
  • Accurately score and record test results and maintain well-organized assessment records. Ensure the confidentiality and security of client data.
  • Collect collaborative data from other health care providers involved in the current care of client.

Patient Interaction

  • Interact with patients in a supportive and empathetic manner during assessments.
  • Contribute to creating a calm and supportive environment during assessment process.
  • Identify and flag to appropriate supervisor or clinician signs of imminent threat to self or others.
  • Participate in crisis intervention as needed, following established protocols to ensure patient safety.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, test scores and interview responses.
  • Support the larger mental health team with other literature reviews as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field.
  • Experience conducting clinical interviews with adult populations an asset.
  • Knowledge of psychological testing principals and experience administering a variety of assessment measures an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Working Conditions

  • The Psychology Technician will work in a clinical setting, collaborating closely with licensed psychologists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals. Role will primarily be virtual. Flexibility in working hours may be required based on patient needs.
