POSITION OVERVIEW
The City of Maple Ridge is seeking a skilled and collaborative Associate Manager, Facilities to lead the day-to-day delivery of assigned facilities capital and lifecycle renewal projects. This role is ideal for a technically strong project leader with experience managing municipal or institutional construction projects from planning through completion.

Reporting to the Facilities Operations Manager, the Associate Manager, Facilities this role provides technical leadership in project planning, design development, procurement, contract administration, construction oversight, and financial control. The successful candidate will help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and within approved scope, schedule, and budget, while supporting long-range facilities planning, asset renewal, and greenhouse gas reduction initiatives.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of assigned facilities capital and lifecycle renewal projects from initiation through design, procurement, construction, and close-out.
  • Manage construction and consulting contracts, including tender preparation, participation in evaluation and award processes, and ongoing contract administration.
  • Provide technical oversight during design development by reviewing drawings, specifications, and technical documents, identifying risks and constructability issues, and recommending practical solutions.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, cost estimates, schedules, cash flow forecasts, and financial controls for assigned projects.
  • Conduct regular field reviews to monitor construction progress, quality, safety, and compliance with contract documents and City standards.
  • Coordinate resolution of deficiencies, non-conformances, and project-related issues in collaboration with consultants, contractors, and internal staff.
  • Supervise and provide technical guidance to assigned staff, including work planning, task assignment, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Coordinate and monitor the work of consultants and contractors to ensure deliverables meet contractual requirements, technical standards, and timelines.
  • Provide technical advice and recommendations to internal interest holders regarding project feasibility, scope, implementation, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external interest holders and serve as a key contact for project-specific engagement.
  • Contribute technical input to capital planning, long-range facilities strategies, lifecycle replacement planning, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and communicate regular updates on greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, including project progress, outcomes, and key insights.
  • Oversee GHG analysis in collaboration with staff and utility providers to support recommendations that maximize emissions reduction and return on investment.
  • Monitor facility asset conditions and provide recommendations to support long-term asset management strategies.


DESIREABLE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma from an Institute of Technology in engineering, architectural sciences, building technology, or a related field, supplemented by coursework in project management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in construction project management.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia.

This is an exempt position working 80 hours bi-weekly.
