Property Accountant

As a company in the process of expanding our team, we are looking for an Accountant to contribute to our continued growth and success.

Overview:

The Property Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions across a portfolio of properties, ensuring accurate processing, organization, and cost control. This role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Controller, responsibilities include:

  • Process full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice coding, matching, and vendor reconciliations
  • Ensure timely vendor payments and perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Coordinate invoice approvals and collaborate across teams to resolve discrepancies and accounting issues
  • Maintain schedules of rents and assist with lease administration tracking and communication to tenants
  • Prepare CAM reconciliations and support tenant recoveries and operating cost allocations
  • Manage purchase orders (POs), including creation, tracking, and matching invoices and budgets
  • Review and price-check invoices against contracts, budgets, and approved agreements
  • Assist with year-end processes, including FS preparation support and working paper preparation
  • Support system implementations and continuous improvement of accounting processes
  • Help with construction-related accounting, including subcontractor draws, progress billings, holdbacks, and payment schedules as needed
  • Provide general accounting and administrative support as required

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 2–3 years of full-cycle accounting experience in real estate development, property management, or construction
  • Strong experience with rent rolls, CAM reconciliations, and/or construction accounting (AP, draws, holdbacks) is strongly preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with intermediate Excel skills; experience with Yardi is an asset
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong prioritization skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
