Property Accountant

As a company in the process of expanding our team, we are looking for an Accountant to contribute to our continued growth and success.
Overview:
The Property Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions across a portfolio of properties, ensuring accurate processing, organization, and cost control. This role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Controller, responsibilities include:
- Process full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice coding, matching, and vendor reconciliations
- Ensure timely vendor payments and perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations
- Coordinate invoice approvals and collaborate across teams to resolve discrepancies and accounting issues
- Maintain schedules of rents and assist with lease administration tracking and communication to tenants
- Prepare CAM reconciliations and support tenant recoveries and operating cost allocations
- Manage purchase orders (POs), including creation, tracking, and matching invoices and budgets
- Review and price-check invoices against contracts, budgets, and approved agreements
- Assist with year-end processes, including FS preparation support and working paper preparation
- Support system implementations and continuous improvement of accounting processes
- Help with construction-related accounting, including subcontractor draws, progress billings, holdbacks, and payment schedules as needed
- Provide general accounting and administrative support as required
Qualifications/Experience:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2–3 years of full-cycle accounting experience in real estate development, property management, or construction
- Strong experience with rent rolls, CAM reconciliations, and/or construction accounting (AP, draws, holdbacks) is strongly preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with intermediate Excel skills; experience with Yardi is an asset
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong prioritization skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
